Lokesvara is a bodhisattva who represents compassion, which is characterized by having the amitabha on his chignon. He has been worshiped in Cambodian society since pre-Angkorian times, and was very popular in the Angkorian period during the reign of Jayavarman VII. This statue has an elegant design and is typical of Bayon style art. In addition to confirming the subject of worship, this statue also confirms continuation of very high standards in metal-work.
