Skanda rides on a peacock. He is one of the two sons of the god Shiva and his consort Parvati – the other is Ganesha. This high relief of Skanda is a rare form in Khmer art. The image shows the sculptural richness of this mythological deity as related to Shivaism in the pre-Angkorian period.
