Hevajra is a deity in Mahayana Buddhism. This image shows the importance of his character, with nine heads and 16 hands, dancing in a mandapa or temple on a sleeping person, representing evil and surrounded by dancers. He dances to ward off unhappiness. Similar to the dance of Shiva also to banish evil. This statue is a rare example from the reign of King Jayavarman VII, between the 12th and 13th centuries.
